HP Elite x3 Review

by jovan1984

The most important Windows 10 device in the history of the operating system is also a good one.

The good

Both variants are unlocked, which means that you will never be locked to a carrier.

The GSM model is dual SIM, which makes it one of the five recommended Windows 10 phones for sex workers (the other four are the Microsoft Lumia 950 [RM-1118], Microsoft Lumia 950 XL [RM-1116], the Acer Liquid Jade Primo and the Coship Moly x1).

There is a CDMA variant that works on Verizon Wireless and may work on US Cellular.

Battery life is the best of all Windows Phones, and is better than any other phone sold in the US today.

Rear camera is much better than I expected, especially at night. Video quality is good at night.

The phone is one of three Windows Phones that are water resistant, with an IP67 rating.

The phone has the very vital LTE bands 2, 5, 12, 29 and 30 – the only Windows Phone with all five LTE bands.

It has the best fingerprint scanner of all phones currently on the market today.

It has a microSD card slot (uses the second SIM slot on dual SIM phones), a headphone jack and wireless charging – making the Elite x3 one of the only phones to not cut any corners whatsoever.

Due to the release of a CDMA variant in November, it now has the longest support cycle of all Windows Phones. As a result, the earliest Microsoft can end support for Windows 10 Mobile is November 3, 2019 – they must accommodate the support cycle of the HP Elite x3 (CDMA), which is two years plus one day.

The “not so good”

The phone is too “fat” for traditional selfie sticks.

The phone’s cost has not depreciated, even after being on sale for 20 months. The price of both is at $688.99, if sales taxes from the Microsoft Stores in Kentucky are added. There are no Microsoft Stores in Augusta, Ga.; Savannah; or in the state of South Carolina.

The front facing camera is nowhere near as good as the alcatel Idol 4s’s front facing camera.

Unlike with the Lumia 950, the owner can only choose between having an SD card or dual SIM capabilities, not both.

The phone is incompatible with T-Mobile and MetroPCS.

The CDMA variant is incompatible with Sprint and CREDO Mobile.

The screen wears easily from heavy use.

Some of the preinstalled HP apps no longer work – and there is no way to uninstall them.

The phone is one of the best phones out there. I highly recommend the GSM variant because it can work everywhere on the planet. If you are fleeing Windows Phone, like many seem to be doing these days because it is the “cool” trend, then you can give or donate an HP Elite x3 to a shelter that houses victims of sexual violence – they will greatly appreciate it.
