It’s currently legal to murder transgender people in Houston and get away with it. HERO would criminalize this, and voyeurism would be a felony. Also, fascists dead aimed at controlling Frankfort are spending big on Matt Bevin!

WOODBINE, Ky. and HOUSTON — On Tuesday, voters in two commonwealths will vote for people to represent them (Kentucky and Virginia).

Also, on Tuesday, Houston will vote on whether it will continue to be legal to murder transgender people in the city, or whether trans people will finally be on equal footing in basic aspects of life.

We’ll talk Kentucky later. First, we’re going to talk about Houston.

Feds now involved after #AssaultAtSpringValleyHigh

COLUMBIA — The Obama Administration has announced that their Federal Bureau of Investigation is opening a civil rights investigation into the unprovoked assault on a pupil by sheriff’s Officer Ben Fields at Spring Valley High School that left her seriously injured.

“The Columbia FBI Field Office, the Civil Rights Division, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina have opened a civil rights investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest of a student at Spring Valley High School,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge David Thomas in a statement today. “The FBI will collect all available facts and evidence in order to determine whether a federal law was violated. As this is an ongoing investigation, per Department of Justice policy we are unable to comment further at this time.”

The decision comes hours after Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott had requested they get involved. Sheriff Lott stated that his agency will fully cooperate with federal agencies in the probe.

Source: Williston-Elko High pupil to file lawsuit against Allendale-Fairfax in hazing incident

WILLISTON — This morning, a pupil at Williston-Elko High School announced that he will be filing a lawsuit against the lot of Allendale-Fairfax officials and the high school and district themselves.

The following people will be named as defendants in the lawsuit: Allendale-Fairfax High, Allendale County Superintendent Leila Williams, Athletic director and head football coach of AFHS football team Eddie Ford, Allendale-Fairfax High principal Senaca Baines, Assitant football coach Cody Bradyburg, and South Atlantic Conference Association of Seventh- Day Adventist, Inc.

The pupil’s parents will file the lawsuit on his behalf.

During the week of August 2, the victim was subject to a hazing ritual after a football camp with Allendale-Fairfax players, with assaults resembling fraternity like initiation. The lawsuit claims the victim was assaulted with open hands, closed fists, boxing gloves, belt buckles or anything the players could find in their grasp.

It says the victim was assaulted by 15 current Tigers and other Allendale-Fairfax upperclassmen simultaneously.

The suit also claims that Coaches Ford and Brandyburg tried to persuade the victim, who later transferred to Williston-Elko and was given an SCHSL waiver to play football for the Blue Devils instead of being forced to sit, to let things go.

The star running back was hospitalized at Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg County receiving treatment after the assault.

While getting treatment for the assault, an Orangeburg County Sheriff’s officer came to the hospital to speak with the victim and his parents. Coincidentally, the victim’s father received a call from Superintendent Williams to not speak to cops about it, and allow the Allendale-Fairfax School District to investigate the incident.

Aiken Area Progressive will not identify the victim or his parents.

Full disclosure: Jovan is an alumnus of Williston-Elko High School.

Another very NSFW video of Spring Valley HS assault surfaces

COLUMBIA ― Another video of an outrageous unprovoked assault on an Upper Midlands pupil by a Richland County Sheriff’s Department officer was released while most people were sleeping.

According to WLTX, they obtained exclusively a second, equally NSFW, video. It’s a longer clip than the initial one, and some extra conversation can be heard.

“I’ve never seen anything so nasty looking, so sick to the point that you know, other students are turning away, don’t know what to do, and are just scared for their lives,” said Spring Valley pupil Tony Robinson Jr., who made the recording. “That’s supposed to be somebody that’s going to protect us. Not somebody that we need to be scare off, or afraid.”

Leon Lott, the Sheriff, is currently on his way back home from a meeting with President Obama and law enforcement officials across the nation.  Sheriff Lott cut short his time in the President’s hometown of Chicago when he, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Richland Two Schools started getting thousands of messages and tweets hourly.

“It’s very disturbing what happened today (Monday). It’s something I have to deal with and that’s what we’re going to be doing,” said Sheriff Lott via Facetime from Chicago.

Sheriff Lott said that under no circumstances will Officer Ben Fields be back as a School Resource Deputy. Whether or not Officer Fields, who has faced lawsuits before and will likely face one over this incident, keeps his job in Columbia will be determined by both the investigation and the community demands.

Lisa Bloom, formerly of TruTV, said that merely holding Officer Fields accountable isn’t good enough.

“I would sue the sheriff’s officer, the school and sheriff’s department that kept him after prior similar complaints,” said Ms. Bloom, the daughter of Gloria Allred, on Twitter.

Richland County Sheriff’s officer assaults pupil (video NSFW)

COLUMBIA — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a viral video shows one of their officers assaulting a female pupil at Spring Valley High.

Here’s the video. It’s Not Safe For Work.

Absolutely no justification for what the officer, whose name is Ben Fields, did. Officer Fields needs to be terminated.

Richland Two told WLTX:

“We are aware of an incident that occurred today at Spring Valley High School,” the district said in a statement. “Video of it has been posted on social media. The incident is under investigation. We are working closely with the sheriff’s department.”

Report: Microsoft sending Lumia flagships back to the FCC, others for CDMA certification

REDMOND, Wash. — After much back and forth between Verizon, Microsoft and their supporters, customers and fans, a report surfaced on Reddit claiming that Microsoft has sent the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL back to the Federal Communications Commission for CDMA certification.

Per the post (NOTE: This is a very long post in the blockquote.):

Been talking to some Verizon customer service people and some people at MS after some tweets caught their attention.

Verizon has to authenticate the phone and they have no choice as long as it passes a certified third party inspection, but Microsoft has to foot the bill for the inspection. It sounds like MS may do that from the back and forth, but it has not been done yet because there are no manufactured models yet. All phones are technically prototypes and the manufacturing lines have not been fired up yet. Conjecture on my part based on what I’ve been told by VZW and Microsoft, but MS may submit the phone for CDMA certification to a third party. If that goes through, Verizon must list the IMEI numbers and allow activation or Microsoft can lodge a complaint with the FCC.

It sounds like Microsoft does not want to have anyone counting on these phones to work on Verizon upon announcement and it is possible that it will not ship with CDMA bands, but Microsoft may sell it unlocked CDMA at a later date after all the hurdles have been cleared, the phone is certified, and they can confirm VZW activation.

Again, I’m reading between the lines but have talked to people at both companies. Verizon is adamant that they will allow the phone if it passes the necessary hurdles that the FCC allows (and this third party verification is part of the LTE agreement VZW did with the FCC) and Microsoft insists that they have no problem selling the phone with CDMA bands unlocked if Verizon will activate it. But it sounds like it can’t be verified until factory models come out.

Moto X works now, but it took time for the factory phones to be verified before Verizon allowed them. This is something they are allowed to do according to the FCC. Now any Moto X Pure should work because the IMEI has been added.

We’ll see what happens. Verizon also promised me that they have other “exciting Windows 10 Mobile offerings” in the pipeline that will be revealed in the future near the Windows 10 Mobile launch. I keep hearing that HTC and LG are coming to the party and will offer Verizon phones. There’s also noise that Acer will sell the Jade Primo unlocked directly and in MS Stores and will get the CDMA bands verified independently of Verizon to force a listing.

I guess I would just say that we all need to stay tuned and keep out ears to the ground.

It goes beyond VZW customer service reps. I was contacted by Verizon directly after making a stink in a back and forth on Twitter. I was put in touch with a management level VZW person, not straight customer service. And I know they were management because I verified the name with my friend who works as a corporate sales executive for VZW. This was someone that would be in the know.

As for Paul, he has stated that he was told the 950 and 950XL would be universal unlocked phones that would work on Verizon. He was just told that Microsoft was done with Verizon as a sales partner. He has guessed that problems activating is why Microsoft has blocked the CDMA bands, but he said he was told in July by a fairly high up and reliable Microsoft source that the phones would be available universal unlocked. He also said that MS has no intention of letting anyone buy them FROM Verizon, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t sell it unlocked. I was told they want to ensure functionality on Verizon before ever selling them to work on the network. They need to be sure Verizon adds the IMEI first and they need manufactured phones to do it. That came from someone in the Lumia team itself.

I’ve listened to Paul quite a bit on this and he stated plainly that what he was originally told indicated the phones were built to work on CDMA. Other also informed him that the 808 and 810 have universal radios as it is, so it would have to be firmware blocked (this has been confirmed by ArsTechnica).

I was told by BOTH Verizon and Microsoft (and also told by someone at ArsTechnica) that Verizon has NO CHOICE but to activate an unlocked phone IF it has been certified by an approved third party tester. Microsoft does not want the CDMA bands unlocked UNTIL that certification happens and Verizon has no choice but to list the 950 and 950XL or face a FCC complaint and possible fine.

This fits the fact of the FCC deal on LTE Verizon is part of. It also fits as to why Microsoft would not initially roll out CDMA. I don’t think it will launch CDMA, but I could see them unlock those bands and sell the phone CDMA unlocked less than a month after launch. If they get it certified by a third party, Verizon has no choice. But why sell the phones and let customers have to wait until Verizon clears it instead of just getting the testing done and letting users know this is coming later.

I think we’ll hear more about this closer to the actual launch date in a month or so.

Indeed, we will hear more about this.

At least one Windows 10 flagship will be listed on Verizon (VZ, VZW), Sprint (S), and US Cellular, and that is the Acer Liquid Jade Primo. As mentioned, Acer has activated CDMA radios and they’re gonna force Verizon – as well as Sprint and US Cellular – to list it.

Will Paine College to the right thing and revoke Bill Cosby’s degree?

AUGUSTA, Ga. — The very next college to strip serial rapist Bill Cosby of his honorary degree just may be one of the three HBCUs right here at home.

Paine College indicates that they may strip Mr. Cosby of his honorary degree after he admitted to raping 39 women, 27 of which talked about their harrowing experience on NBC’s Dateline.

According to Interim President Sam Sullivan, those depositions and allegations have led to the Augusta college to consider revoking the 78-year-old’s honorary degree. The comedian performed in Augusta on February 28.

After much pressure and outcry from many Black Americans and feminists alike, Spelman College in Atlanta, Ga. stripped Mr. Cosby of his honorary degree this past spring.

File a complaint against Verizon Wireless for blocking Windows 10 phones!

WASHINGTON, DC — As you may well know, Verizon Wireless is intentionally blocking Windows 10 phones from accessing their network, which is the second-largest in the nation, the second-fastest in the nation and the most reliable.

Here is a way to remedy that: go to the FCC and flood them with complaints about this.

Here is how you do that:

  1. Click on this site.
  2. Find the box that says ‘Internet’.
  3. Click on File Complaint.
  4. Fill in all of the required fields. For example, on subject, you will need to write something like “Verizon is refusing to certify Windows 10 phones”. Under “Internet Issues”, click on the downward facing arrow and then click on Availability. Two more boxes with downward facing arrows should appear. In the first of the new boxes, which is “Your Internet Method”, click on the arrow and then click on Wireless. The next two sentences are extremely important, so read carefully. Under “Company Name”, you must click on Verizon Wireless. If you click on Verizon, there is a very high percentage of a chance that the complaint will be thrown out!
  5. Finally, fill out email address, your name, physical address (Post Office Boxes are strongly discouraged), town, state, zip code, phone number, etc. Under “Description of Complaint”, you can hyperlink to the source of material, such as Windows Central, that is very relevant to the complaint.

There you go! Then, once the submit option appears, click on it and you will get an email from the FCC immediately confirming that they received your complaint!

As a consumer, we all deserve to have the phone of our choice on the carrier of our choice! Fight for this right, people, or lose it forever!

Verizon Wireless is blocking all five Windows 10 phones from accessing network

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. — A damning investigation as to why Microsoft, Alcatel and Acer had disabled the CDMA radios and removed support for Band 13 LTE on their phones has gotten a lot more explosive.

Several independent investigations found that Verizon Wireless is deliberately blocking all five Windows 10 phones, none of which have been released at the moment, from accessing their expansive LTE and CDMA networks.

From YouTube, with Paul Thurrott and Mary Jo Foley:

Mr. Thurrott and Ms. Foley talk about Microsoft’s two flagships, the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, and how Verizon, since July, had blocked the phones from accessing their network. We at Aiken Area Progressive also suspect that Verizon is blocking the other three Windows 10 phones – Microsoft’s budget Lumia 550, Alcatel’s One Touch, and Acer’s flagship Liquid Jade Primo – from accessing their network.

For some reason, I knew that Verizon (VZ, VZW) would pull some kind of shenanigans and lo and behold, I was right.

Verizon has done nothing to earn my business and everything to lose it. I’ll never get a phone on their network now.

I have a Verizon SIM card that I’m willing to sell for a nominal fee of $2. Any IPhone owners want it?

AT&T plans to sell a Windows 10 phone that’s incompatible with their network

NEW YORK CITY — Nine days ago, AT&T announced they were selling the Microsoft Lumia 950.

Turns out, an investigation shows that Microsoft’s 5.2 inch high-end Windows 10 phone is incompatible with AT&T’s LTE network.

AT&T has eight LTE bands on their network: Band 1 (2.1 GHz), Band 2 (PCS), Band 4 (1.7/2.1 GHz), Band 5 (850 MHz), Band 12 (700 MHz), Band 17 (700 MHz), Band 29 (700 MHz) and Band 30 (WCS).

However, three of the network’s LTE bands are noticeably absent on the Lumia 950: Bands 17, 29 and 30.

These are not small omissions, either. Band 17 is one of AT&T’s two primary LTE bands. That band propelled Big Orange to have the nation’s largest LTE network as of October 10, 2015. Band 29 is another important LTE band, because it penetrates indoors. It will be implemented in areas such as Northwest Maine and Gatlinburg, Tenn., where Bands 12 and 17 coverage are spotty.

Finally, Band 30, known as WCS, is now live, and is overlaying areas where Bands 12 and 17 exist. This will provide AT&T with unusual carrier aggregation, but one that will completely trounce archrival Verizon Wireless.

Sadly, though, unless there’s a new Lumia 950 (or Lumia 950 XL, for that matter) in production that I don’t know about, customers on AT&T will not be able to take advantage of this carrier aggregation.

That’s a crying shame. This, not Microsoft’s exclusion of Verizon from selling their phones, is precisely why the Lumia 950, formerly known as Talkman, will fail.

The IPhone is facing a US ban (for the second time) after Apple’s conviction for patent infringement in suit by Wis. college

6s plus tmobile

MADISON, Wis. — The loss of eight hundred sixty-two million four hundred thousand dollars is the least of Apple’s worries.

The smartphone maker could see their phones banned in the United States as well.

A Wisconsin jury convicted Apple of infringing a 17-year-old patent owned by the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The patent, from 1998, is related to chip efficiency. Apple’s five most recent chips – the A7, A8, A8X, A9 and A9X – used in their IPhones – IPhone 6s Plus, IPhone 6 Plus, and IPhone 5s – all violate the patent.

Apple flatly denied infringing on the patent. The jury disagreed. Now, they’ll figure out how much Apple pays to UW-Madison, and whether the IPhone will be banned from being sold in the States. On August 25, Microsoft narrowly avoided a ban on their Lumia smartphones from being sold in the US despite being found guilty of violating a patent. In 2009, President Obama vetoed a ban on the IPhone being sold in the States, leading to harsh accusations of favoritism from progressives, conservatives, Android fanboys, Windows users, and others.

These nine businesses are in collusion with Coalfire and the Center for Medical Progress to destroy and deny women reproductive health care in the US!

LOS ANGELES — About one hour 15 minutes ago, one Disqus commenter on the Hill let slip a small list of businesses that have joined the Center for Medical Progress and Coalfire to promote the anti-abortion agenda of destroying and denying women basic reproductive health care in the US.

As you may well know from other sites, the videos the Center for Medical Progress recorded from 2012 to June of this year had no less than 4,022 deceptive edits total.

Now, anti-abortion radicals are trying desperately to promote a ‘forensics analysis’ from an anti-abortion propaganda arm called Coalfire to take the heat off David Daleiden and the CMP.

Ladies and gents, these are the nine companies that are supporting the anti-abortion agenda to deny women basic health care in the United States:

Pro-Choice activists, you know what to do. Tweet them relentlessly until they disassociate themselves from the Center for Medical Progress and Coalfire. If that fails, boycott every one of these businesses, including Amazon.
