Henry McMaster and South Carolina Republicans want to murder people and doctors who deliver life-saving health care (UPDATE 2)

Columbia — The conservatives in South Carolina want to murder pregnant people and their doctors.

That means your sister, your friend, your mother, your daughter, your cousin, your niece could all be murdered by the South Carolina state government if Henry McMaster and the South Carolina GOP have their way.

Vicki Ringer noted that another bill in the legislature, H. 3549, would allow the state to literally murder pregnant people and their OB-GYNs for receiving and delivering life-saving healthcare, respectively.

The South Carolina House on February 15 passed H. 3774, which is a complete abortion ban and already would require the prosecution of both pregnant person and their doctor(s) for giving life-saving health care.

The lone difference between H. 3774 and H. 3549 is the maximum penalty.

The maximum penalty for violating H. 3774 is a sentence of natural life for the violators. H. 3549 would put the most intrinsically evil and barbaric procedure on the table: the death penalty, which is state-sanctioned murder.

H. 3549 would give fetuses special rights that no other living thing has.

As this is a House bill, Mrs. Ringer tweeted out the sponsors. Many of them are from the 864-area code.

From Greenville: Mike Burns, HD 17, Patrick Haddon, HD 19, Ashley Trantham, HD 28 and Mark Willis, HD 16

Anderson: Thomas Beach, HD 10

Laurens: Stewart Jones, HD 14

Spartanburg: Bill Chumley, HD 35, Rob Harris, HD 36, Brian Lawson, HD 30, Steven Long, HD 37, Josiah Magnuson HD 38 and Roger Nutt, HD 34

Charleston: Kathy Landing, HD 80, Matt Leber, HD 116 and Jordan Pace, HD 117

David O’Neal, HD 66, York

Ryan McCabe, HD 96, Lexington

Joe White, HD 40, Newberry

These are the sponsors and co-sponsors of H. 3549. The entire Republican Party, in South Carolina and beyond, wants to mass murder every woman of reproductive age.

They are not content with other genocidal world leaders having infamous lore. The GOP wants to become the most prolific genocidal political party in world history.

This proves that American conservatives are now, in fact, worse than the Taliban. So, it is time that we jettison phrases such as the “American Taliban” and “Christian Taliban” from our vocabulary.

Update at 8:43 am, March 17: according to a Twitter user residing in New York (formerly from South Carolina), Rob Harris is the chief sponsor of H. 3549. His name should appear in bold font on the blogpost.

Update at 6:48 pm, March 21: WJBF-DT’s Kim Vickers, Mary Morrison and Barclay Bishop reported that nine legislators have withdrawn their co-sponsorship of H. 3549. It was also reported that the bill will not come up in the South Carolina House and that Senator Shane Massey of Aiken said that their chamber will not bring the bill up should it pass the House.

To this, I call bullshit.

Each of the nine legislators who withdrew their co-sponsorship will still vote for it. Murrell Smith claims that the bill will not come up and will be dead on arrival. Do not believe what Speaker Smith says. It will come up before the 2024 elections, as it will be the national gubernatorial midterm election cycle (better known as the presidential election cycle), and McMaster is one of 36 governors who will have a midterm election on November 5, 2024. And even after that, it could still come up as this legislative session does not end until December 31, 2024.

And both the House and Senate, with GOP supermajorities, will definitely pass H. 3549 before the session ends. It won’t come up this year since this is not an election year in South Carolina, and bills that do not meet this year’s crossover deadline will still be held over until the 2024 crossover deadline. The crossover deadline for each year is the last Friday in April, with the legislative session’s crossover deadline being the last Friday in April in an even-numbered year. For this session, that deadline is on April 26, 2024.
