Aiken Republican Senator: “we don’t have the votes” to pass total ban on abortion

Columbia — Here is some good news on the home front: it appears that all the shenanigans the Republicans pulled in committees last autumn will be for naught.

WLTX News 19 is reporting that Aiken Senator Shane Massey (who is also the chamber’s majority leader) said that it is unlikely that H. 3020 will make it through the Senate.

He told the media that the bill, which is unconstitutional based on rulings against Alabama and Georgia’s laws from the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, is good policy.

The bill would have banned all abortions if it were to become law, not enough time for a pregnant person to make an informed decision on the procedure.

However, Republicans have been known to pull shenanigans before in Columbia.

Pro-choice people should not rest their laurels until May 11, the day that we know this unconstitutional attack on pregnant people will be dead for sure barring any GOP shenanigans before then.
