The South Carolina Senate is trying to push through an unconstitutional total ban on abortion with unprecedented out-of-session move

Spartanburg — The genie is out of the bottle.

South Carolina House introduces bill to ban Medicaid patients from receiving health care

Columbia — The South Carolina House of Representatives have introduced another bill that would essentially ban Medicaid patients from receiving any kind of health care.

The bill is known as H. 4491, and it defunds the only health care provider in the state that accepts Medicaid patients, Planned Parenthood. If H. 4491 is passed into law, there will be absolutely no alternatives for Medicaid patients in South Carolina for health care.

Vicki Ringer, the director of Planned Parenthood South Atlantic South Carolina, writes:

Attention : major announcement for tomorrow morning March 7 th :
Friends, the House Judiciary Subcommittee is holding a hearing tomorrow morning at 9 am in Room 516 of the Blatt Building on the State House grounds (it’s between the Gressette Building and Pendleton Street). The bill is H. 4491 which prevents patients on Medicaid from coming to abortion clinics for pap smears, breast exams, birth control, STD testing and treatment, cancer screenings and other health care. This is the “defund Planned Parenthood” bill.

It has absolutely no impact on the number of abortions performed because state and federal law already prohibit funding for abortion. And though the bill says it affects abortion clinics, Planned Parenthood is the only one affected because we’re the only one which accepts Medicaid.

We really need people who will testify so we can fill the agenda and perhaps slow down a vote or prevent a vote tomorrow.

You don’t need any facts or statistics. Just talk about how politicians are interfering with women’s health care choices, taking away women’s option to go to an already trusted health care provider, making it more difficult for low income women to seek care, hurting women over and over again. It’s getting really tiring having to constantly defend our basic rights to care. Legislators have decided that they haven’t punished us enough this year.

Please come tomorrow and show your support AGAIN for our reproductive rights in SC.

Please forward this to all your networks and contacts. Share on social media. Post on Facebook. Let’s fill the room again!

Thank you so much!

With the state being much worse off now than it was in 1986, waging a War on South Carolina Women is what this crooked conservative state does best.

November 6, where are you?

Trump gets rid of Obama-era rules on birth control – meaning bosses can legally ax women for simply possessing birth control pills

Washington, DC – Women can now be legally fired from their jobs simply for possessing birth control after the Trump Administration today nixed a rule about birth control that former President Obama had enacted five years ago.

Rewire’s Christine Grimaldi shared on Twitter a piece of the new rule the Trump Administration posted at 11:00 EDT.

The rules that the Obama administration had enacted also allowed women to get birth control for little to no cost. That too, is gone, as of today, meaning that the price of birth control is about to skyrocket.

And if Trump, Trent Franks and Lindsey Graham have their way, women would also be prosecuted and jailed for up to five years simply for possession of birth control pills.

This is not about religious liberty or the “unborn” folks. This, as well as the proposed 20-week ban on abortion that passed the House on Tuesday, is about one thing and one thing only: A government takeover of women’s bodies and lives.

Baristas sue Seattle suburb over discriminatory ordinance

Everett, Wash. — A group of baristas are filing a lawsuit against this Seattle suburb after it passed an ordinance designed to discriminate against women and force the baristas to the unemployment line.

Everett recently passed one of the most anti-woman, anti-business measures the Seattle area has ever seen when they adopted an ordinance requiring any article of clothing they wear to be a minimum of three inches below the ass. Read the rest of this entry »

The 2015 World Series champions are promoting blatant misogyny in front of their female fans

Kansas City, Mo. — One surefire way to get women to boycott a team is by promoting blatant misogyny.

The Kansas City Royals are partnering up with the Vitae Foundation, an organization known for is misogyny all across Kansas and Missouri. The group, as the women’s rights organization UltraViolet noted, is known for manipulating and lying to women who seek abortions, and promoting extreme anti-choice propaganda. Vitae’s deceptive ads are so grotesque that one Kansas City area radio station actually had the decency to do what is right – remove the ads and ban the group’s ads from its station.

However, that’s not stopping the Royals. The 2015 World Series champions have signed up to broadcast the Vitae ads at games and over the airwaves on as many as 59 radio stations.

Women who are fans of baseball are enraged over this and are already planning to boycott the Royals.

UltraViolet has a petition in an attempt to diffuse this situation, which threatens to get volatile.

Sign the petition and call on the Royals to cease advertising with Vitae.

Pure, unadulterated evil shown in this picture as US Senate votes to defund Planned Parenthood

mike pence smiles as he breaks tie to destroy women's rights

This so-called Vice President is pure evil scum.

Washington, DC — Evil won again today in the US Senate as Mike Pence cast the tie-breaking vote to defund Planned Parenthood and allow US States to do the same.

This vote came 8.5 weeks after the extremely important Women’s March protesting against this very stuff.

All Republicans, except for the vulnerable Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins, voted for the big government power grab. No Democrats, not even DINO Joe Manchin (W.Va.), voted in favor of this proposal.

Trump has promised to sign this bill, which was rammed through via the Congressional Review Act.

Bottom Line: people did not march in the Women’s March for funsies

Trump Inauguration Protests

Some woman from Spring, Texas named Christy posted a misogynist screed on Facebook during the six hour long Women’s March in the District of Columbia talking about “how good” women have it here.

If women have it so damn good here, then why did the United States receive an F for the grade on women’s rights for the tenth year in a row?

If women have it so good here, then why Nepalese women have more freedom than women here in the United States?

If women have it so good here, then why they cannot receive proper health care without conservatives harassing them or shutting down clinics that give women the well-woman care they deserve?

The fact and the matter is no matter how much Christy or anyone else like her say it, women do not have it good in the United States. It’s not even close – and I, for one, will no longer sugarcoat this.

The United States, once a leader in women’s rights, no longer ranks in the Top 40 when it comes to women’s freedom. In fact, we are outranked by Finland, Sweden, and other countries like Cuba and the Philippines.

If Trump and the Republicans in both Congress and in the States have their way, the United States will soon be ranked alongside the ranks of Iran, China and Oman.

Just in the last four days alone: Trump reinstated the Global Gag Rule, and the GOP in the House of Representatives passed the unconstitutional House Resolution 7, a standalone bill that would codify the Hyde Amendment into permanent law and prohibit pregnant people from using their own money for abortion services.

So, if you are pearl-clutching in any way about the Women’s March, you are way over your head and in fact, you are drowning.

They did not march on January 21 for funsies.

They marched because their rights are in grave peril.

The immediate threat to freedom is not foreign Islamic nations. The immediate threat to our freedom is Christofascists in Congress, the White House and in the state governments.

It is way past time for us to stop ignoring the Republicans and the grave threat they pose to our rights and start paying attention.

Williston Telephone Company (TDS Telecom) publishes two anti-choice centers under “Women’s Health Services”

On Thursday, residents of the towns of Williston, Windsor, Elko, Neeses, North, Norway, Wolfton and Woodford all got their telephone books, which was 15 days earlier than usual.

Usually, no one cares to look near the front, but I did (because I wanted to look at prefixes and area codes) and disgusted does not even begin to describe my reaction when I looked at the Human Services section, which is before you even get to the White Pages. Read the rest of this entry »

10 times Megyn Kelly was no Shero — Dr. Jen Gunter

Megyn Kelly interviewed Newt Gingrich on the subject of Donald Trump’s alleged groping. Gingrich didn’t seem to understand that the character of the Presidential candidate is an issue or that Bill Clinton isn’t running for President. It ended with Gingrich accusing Kelly of being sex obsessed and Kelly telling Gingrich he had some anger management […]

Action alert! Oppose the deceptively named First Amendment Defense Act

A new threat to religious freedom, civil rights, women’s rights, sex worker rights, LGBTQIA rights and nudity rights has emerged this past weekend.

An ad sponsored on Daily Kos had a link from the People For the American Way, a group dedicated to fighting the right wing assaults on our freedoms, about signing a petition. That petition will be below the fold. Read the rest of this entry »

Get ready to be enraged: York nudist Jeannie Jonas will have spent more time in jail than rapist Brock Turner when he is released on September 2

SACRAMENTO — Rapist Brock Turner will be released from jail on Friday.

Mr. Turner, for those unfamiliar with Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and Instagram, was sentenced to jail on June 2 after a March 25 conviction on three rape charges after he raped an unconscious woman in an alley at Stanford University.

Mr. Turner will be released after spending just 89 days in jail. His sentence began on Monday, June 5.

That is less than half of the 183-day jail term Mr. Turner was handed by rape enabling judge Aaron Persky, 54, who is facing a recall election on November 8 over his sentencing in this case.

By comparison, York nudist Jeannie Jonas, now 57, convicted of Mickey Mouse “indecent exposure” charges after an ultraconservative Muslim male neighbor was “offended” by her cutting her grass while legally topless, spent 90 days in jail from January to April 2015.

The extremely light sentence ignited a new bill, now on the desk of Governor Jerry Brown (D), that would prohibit judges or prosecutors from seeking jail sentences of less than three years in cases of rape or sexual assault. That bill also eliminates probation as an option in such cases. Aiken Area Progressive has not taken a position on this bill.

Gov. Brown has vowed to anti-rape advocates that he will sign the bill.

Look at these two cases and prepare to be outraged.
