Evans, Ga. — The man wanted for molesting and then kidnapping a 15-year-old girl was arrested in eastern Tennessee.

Jason Johnson, 37, was arrested this weekend in Sevierville, Tenn. He was wanted for molesting Calah Waskow, 15, in her residence city of Evans.

Today, though, officers with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department handed Mr. Johnson over to Columbia County’s Sheriff Office officers.

In addition to the child molestation charge, Mr. Johnson is also charged with aggravated child molestation, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

He will not have a court date this year. He will, however, remain in the Columbia County Jail until January 5, 2017. That date is his first appearance in court.

NOTE: As she was previously identified in Georgia and Tennessee’s Amber Alerts and South Carolina’s Bond Alert, Aiken Area Progressive has decided to identify the child molestation victim in this case.

Piedmont man who raped girl, 7, will get no jail time

YORK — A Piedmont man who raped a seven-year-old girl will not spend a day in jail, and it was the solicitor who offered the deal.

Edwin O’Neil was offered a deal by the solicitor for sexually assaulting the girl.

Her family, already devastated at Mr. O’Neil for the crime, was seething afterwards.

Her father said that Mr. O’Neil molested her within the last 20 months.

Mr. O’Neil was an old family friend and would watch the girl and her sister.

The victim’s family found out he took advantage of their trust when one of their daughters said O’Neil molested the seven-year-old sexually.

“It’s just, that absolutely breaks a father, a parent, whoever,” said the father. “It breaks them down.”

The solicitor claimed he negotiated the deal, in part, because he did not want to retraumatize the victim. The crime was not reported to the York County Sheriff’s Department for months because the victim was fearful.

“Do you still want to enter your no contest plea?” asked the judge to Mr. O’Neil.

“Yes sir, I do,” replied Mr. O’Neil.

With that, Mr. O’Neil pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of first-degree assault and battery. He got three years of probation.

“I’m sorry, a child molester doesn’t even need to come close to being able to walk free out of here,” said the father to WSOC-HD.

They unsuccessfully convinced the judge to send him to jail.

The state statute calls for a minimum sentence for criminal sexual conduct in which a victim is under the age of 11 of 25 years in jail for a first offense.

This is not the first case in the past almost five months in which sentencing for sexual assault and rape has been an issue.

Source: Williston-Elko High pupil to file lawsuit against Allendale-Fairfax in hazing incident

WILLISTON — This morning, a pupil at Williston-Elko High School announced that he will be filing a lawsuit against the lot of Allendale-Fairfax officials and the high school and district themselves.

The following people will be named as defendants in the lawsuit: Allendale-Fairfax High, Allendale County Superintendent Leila Williams, Athletic director and head football coach of AFHS football team Eddie Ford, Allendale-Fairfax High principal Senaca Baines, Assitant football coach Cody Bradyburg, and South Atlantic Conference Association of Seventh- Day Adventist, Inc.

The pupil’s parents will file the lawsuit on his behalf.

During the week of August 2, the victim was subject to a hazing ritual after a football camp with Allendale-Fairfax players, with assaults resembling fraternity like initiation. The lawsuit claims the victim was assaulted with open hands, closed fists, boxing gloves, belt buckles or anything the players could find in their grasp.

It says the victim was assaulted by 15 current Tigers and other Allendale-Fairfax upperclassmen simultaneously.

The suit also claims that Coaches Ford and Brandyburg tried to persuade the victim, who later transferred to Williston-Elko and was given an SCHSL waiver to play football for the Blue Devils instead of being forced to sit, to let things go.

The star running back was hospitalized at Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg County receiving treatment after the assault.

While getting treatment for the assault, an Orangeburg County Sheriff’s officer came to the hospital to speak with the victim and his parents. Coincidentally, the victim’s father received a call from Superintendent Williams to not speak to cops about it, and allow the Allendale-Fairfax School District to investigate the incident.

Aiken Area Progressive will not identify the victim or his parents.

Full disclosure: Jovan is an alumnus of Williston-Elko High School.

Vidalia Police Office deputy arrested for raping child bonds out

Cop still has job

VIDALIA, Ga. — While all the national attention is set on North Charleston, let’s not forget about another case of police misconduct not far from there.

In Toombs County, a young cop has bonded out of the Toombs County Jail after he was charged with raping a 15-year-old girl.

Deputy Jeremy Achenbach, 24, posted a $50000.00 bond in front of Judge Kathy Palmer today.  She then set the conditions for him: he can’t contact the family of the victim, and he can’t be around any minors unless they’re family.

Deputy Achenbach was suspended indefinitely by the Vidalia Police Office after his arrest.

Prosecutors said this defendant won’t get any special treatment because he’s a police officer.

“This defendant will be treated similarly to every defendant whose charged with this crime at this and every other stage of prosecution of this case,” said Assistant District Attorney Trip Fitzner.

Deputy Achenbach was arrested for statutory rape after a brief investigation by the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Former flea market owner arrested for sexually raping his underaged family member

Ex-flea market owner arrested for raping 13-year-old family member

AUGUSTA, GA — The ex-owner of the South Augusta Flea Market is in jail this weekend, charged with raping one girl in his family for seven years.

The alleged victim wrote in a statement to deputies that Rhodes started making sexual and lewd comments to her when she was 6-years-old (in 2006), and started raping and molesting her when she was 8-years-old (in 2009). She also claims he pointed a gun at her.

Harold Eugene “Dusty” Rhodes, 78, of Augusta, was arrested and charged with rape (one count), non-aggravated child molestation (one count), aggravated child molestation (three counts). He was still at the Augusta-Richmond County Detention Center.

There is a question as to whether this rapist will get to trial. After all, as the article and post tells you, this rapist is 78, which means he is on borrowed time.

Let’s hope this victim gets the justice she deserves before he dies.

Two convicted of raping and robbing girl after 2009 homecoming dance

RICHMOND, CA — Two men were convicted simultaneously by two different juries on Thursday of raping and robbing a Richmond High School Class of 2012 graduate after her homecoming dance in October 2009.

This case will be remembered for 21 boys and men who stood idly by, watched and did nothing to stop the now-adult woman who was raped for 150 minutes as a 15-year-old girl on October 23, 2009.  In fact, some of those who watched actually participated in raping the victim.

Contra Costa County Superior Court Judge Barbara Zuniga led off by reading the guilty verdict for Pinole resident Marcelles Peter, 20. The jury found him guilty on all counts, including the robbery.

Mr. Peter was dressed in a blue-striped collared shirt and tie. His lawyer put his arm around him as the guilty verdicts were read. His mother wept.

Next up, Judge Zuniga read of the guilty verdict for 22-year-old Jose Montano, of Richmond. He was also found guilty of all three counts he faced.

John Cope, one of the two prosecutors, called the verdicts an important and appropriate outcome for some horrendous crimes.

The case is very unusual, because there were two different juries in the same courtroom trying the defendants at the same time separately. Although the 24 of them travelled together, they split off at the courtroom, deliberating the verdicts in their assigned cases.

Police received a 911 call that night and found the-then 15-year-old girl (now 19-year-old woman) comatose with head trauma, burns, hypothermia and a near-fatal 0.35 percent blood-alcohol level, according to the two prosecutors.

The two men on trial at this time were tried on charges of rape in concert, oral copulation in concert and sexual penetration with a foreign object in concert, along with special allegations of inflicting great bodily injury on the victim. They are the first duo of a sextet of men jailed for their alleged roles in the incident, which also included aggravated robbery.

The penalty phase of the trial begins on August 15.
