Panama City to enforce alcohol ban with arrests at midnight
PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Panama City will see people from southwest Georgia and northwest Florida through April 26.
And today is the last day you can pour alcoholic products out and get by with a citation.
After seven people were shot due to the drunken conduct, lax state gun laws and multiple arrests for fights and cursing, the beachside city is saying no more to booze after 23:59, the only thing that they can lawfully enforce in a gambit to stem the wave of violence.
Starting at midnight, anyone caught with alcohol in the Panama City city limits will be arrested on the spot.
The Bay County council approved of the emergency order after incidents involving Alabama spring breakers which left a trio of people in critical condition at regional hospitals.
This is why preemption laws are hardly ever a good idea.
