Minister arrested for raping girl, put on leave as school employee
HANAHAN — A minister and Berkeley County School District employee was arrested and charged with raping a girl.
The investigation into the 54-year-old man began in July when the girl’s father was flagged down on Campbell St. The man told officers that another man had been touching his daughter.
The girl told officers that the suspect had sexually assaulted her repeatedly on her breasts, chest, butt and crotch and told her not to tell his wife. The girl instead called her father in tears.
Police called in the Department of Social Services in Moncks Corner, who decided to leave the girl in her home since her parents were not accused of any wrongdoing.
The girl talked to counselors at Lowcountry Children’s Center in Charleston and was given a checkup at Medical University of South Carolina Hospital, too.
On August 19, police filed the criminal sexual conduct affidavit against the suspect.
Arthur Prioleau, 54, was arrested on Wednesday at the Sonoco on Redbank Rd by the Hanahan Police Department and charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 16. He is currently being held at the Hill Finklea Detention Center on $50000.00 bond.
