Orangeburg County man arrested for indecent exposure after publicly masturbating to women in Metro Charleston

MOUNT PLEASANT — A Bowman man was arrested for publicly masturbating to women and girls all over the Charleston metropolitan area.

When officers made the arrest on Monday, they spoke with a victim waiting at a bus stop, along with a witness, who provided a license plate number for the suspect. An officer patrolling the area then saw a vehicle matching the description near Johnnie Dodds Blvd and Shelmore Blvd. Police pulled the vehicle over and the driver was taken into custody.

Mt. Pleasant Police Major Stan Gragg said detectives have worked with Charleston Police Department investigators to link a convicted sex offender to a number of reported indecent exposure incidents and assaults.

He is responsible for a litany of sexual assaults on women in the spring.

One of the earliest incidents reported happened in the Old Village. A woman running by the corner of Hyers St and Pitt St saw the suspect stroking his chicken while leaning against a tree in the front yard of a home. The woman said she started running faster, but as she later came to a stop near Pitt St and McCormick st, she heard footsteps behind her.

The suspect was seen on Friday, jacking off to female victims publicly on Eastlake Rd.

He publicly masturbated in front of, and sexually assaulted, women and girls from April 11 to Sunday in the other following locations:

Adluh St
Wando Park Blvd along Chuck Dawley Blvd
Dawn View Terrace near Rifle Range Rd
Chuck Dawley Blvd
Pocohontas St
Atlantic St
Etiwan Pointe Dr
Coming St

Thomas Ravenel arrested for driving under the influence in New York

NEW YORK CITY — As it turns out, Anthony Weiner was not the only asshole who made a bigger ass of themselves in New York City on Monday.

South Carolina’s former treasurer, who resigned in disgrace after only a half year on the job, has been arrested again, this time in the Hamptons.

Police say the 50-year-old real estate developer was driving erratically, first onto the shoulder of Montauk Hy, then he crossed a double yellow line.

Police say they smelled alcohol on the ex-Treasurer’s breath, and he was unsteady on his feet. He bombed several field sobriety tests and refused a breathalyzer and a drunkometer test.

Thomas Ravenel, 50, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He is due back in court this week.

Like Mr. Weiner, Mr. Ravenel resigned in disgrace. In 2007, Mr. Ravenel pleaded guilty to buying cocaine for himself and to share with friends and served a 10-month federal sentence.
