Men arrested for raping Kershaw County girls
Men allegedly sexually assaulted girls in Kershaw County
CAMDEN — Two men are in jail after Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department deputies say they sexually assaulted two girls.
On June 19, KCSO was notified by a woman that one of the men had been sexually involved with her 14-year-old daughter, Sheriff Jim Matthews says. The KCSO conducted a investigation into the allegation and cut an arrest warrant for the 23-year-old man, who was later busted near West Columbia.
As the investigation heated up, deputies learned that a 20-year-old man had been with the older man on both occasions when the 23-year-old had sexual relations with the girl, according to Sheriff Matthews. On one of those occasions, the 20-year-old had become sexually involved with a different 14-year-old girl at the exact same location, the sheriff said.
The parents of the first young girl found out about the encounter via text messages, said Sheriff Matthews.
The second young girl detailed her involvement with the 20-year-old man during an interview with investigators on July 2, Matthews said. Based on statements and other evidence, the sheriff’s office cut a fresh arrest warrant for the 20-year-old.
“There seems to be a lot of this type activity going on lately,” said Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews. “Adult men need to realize that if they take advantage of young girls in this manner and we find out about it, we will thoroughly investigate the allegations and if appropriate, put them in jail. This kind of activity needs to stop.”
Ryan Bradley Pierce, 20, of Elgin was arrested on Thursday by the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office and charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct toward a minor between the ages of 11-14.
Chad Rabon, 23, of West Columbia was arrested on Thursday by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office and charged with criminal solicitation of a minor involving a 12-year-old female victim.
Mr. Rabon is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on hold for a charge of second degree criminal sexual conduct toward a minor between the ages of 11-14 in Kershaw County.
Cumberland County man is first to be charged, prosecuted under “Shaniya’s Law”
FAYETTEVILLE — Today in Craigslist crime: a retired Cumberland County military personality has a dubious first on his resume.
William Jerry Faulkner Junior, 47, of Red Oak Dr, Hope Mills, was arrested by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and charged with the unlawful sale, surrender, or purchase of a minor and indecent liberties with a child. He is the manager of Taylor’s Linden Mini-Storage in the town of Linden and is a retired military intelligence soldier.
Mr. Faulkner Jr. is the first person in North Carolina history to be charged and prosecuted under what is known as “Shaniya’s Law”.
CCSO deputies say that there was an illegal posting on Craigslist advertising for a single mother, who had a special needs child that he could have in exchange for monetary compensation. Mr. Faulkner Jr. was intending to use the child for inappropriate sexual behavior, CCSO said.
