Anna Benson arrested for domestic violence, threats against estranged husband and former Clemson pitcher
SMYRNA, GA — One very popular woman has been arrested and jailed for abusing and threatening her estranged husband.
On Sunday evening, Mr. Benson — who filed for divorce in late 2012 — reported that Mrs. Benson showed up in a rage last night after being forced by the Atlanta federal court to vacate their marital home. Kris says Anna arrived and immediately whipped out an expandable metal baton, threatening to hit him.
But that was only the beginning. Kris told police Anna then pulled out a loaded handgun and demanded $30,000.00 from him. The Baseball Wives star must have been expecting Kris to pull a weapon on her too, because she was wearing a bulletproof vest at the time of the alleged domestic assault.
Keep in mind that law enforcement, the military and abortion providers are the only groups of people legally allowed to wear a bulletproof vest of any sort nationwide.
Kris told Anna he would get her the money following the altercation, but then left the home, changed his mind and called police instead.
Anna destroyed Kris’s notebook computer with the metal baton while attempting to swing it at him.
Anna was found to have had lots of ammunition on her belt clip.
When Smyrna Police Department detectives arrived at the scene, she yelled sexist slurs at her husband, saying that he was a ‘fucking pussy’.
Anna also said in a douchey manner that she was wearing the bulletproof vest as a deal she made with its manufacturer.
Anna Benson was arrested by the Smyrna Police Department and charged with four counts, including felony aggravated domestic violence with a weapon, criminal trespassing and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
The 911 tapes of the incident was released on Monday, video above and transcript of call here:
Extracts from Kris Benson’s 911 call:
Kris Benson: ‘My soon to be ex-wife has gotten into my house … She’s brandishing a gun.’
Operator: ‘She has a gun?’
Operator: ‘Where is she right now?’
Kris: ‘She’s in the house and I’m downstairs in the basement.’
Operator: ‘Did she threaten you with that gun?’
Operator: ‘OK, what is she wearing?’
Kris: ‘She’s wearing a bulletproof vest’ [appears to give a shocked laugh]
Operator: ‘She’s wearing a bulletproof vest?’
Operator: ‘And she threatened you with a gun?’
Kris: ‘Correct’ Operator: ‘Is that your ex-wife?’
Kris: ‘Soon-to-be-ex-wife. Going through a divorce.’
Kris: ‘She told me to go get a lighter for her to smoke a cigarette. When I left the room [unintelligible] down into the basement.’
Operator: ‘Did she know where you went?’
Operator: ‘Was she looking for you?’
On Wednesday, a federal judge in Atlanta revoked Mrs. Benson’s visitation rights and awarded Mr. Benson full custody of the children they have.
I am so glad that Kris Benson did this. When men are in a relationship with a woman who has more wealth than them (Anna was the breadwinner, even though Kris pitched solid games for the New York Mets against the very area he resides in now), it can be intimidating for a man to call police on an abusive wife or girlfriend who has money, wealth, privilege and fame.
Kris Benson is so much better off without Anna, that is for sure. I know there are more than enough good women out there who would love to take him and his kids in.
